You can leave work and still carry every unfinished conversation into the house. A short transition will not erase the day, but it can stop work from automatically owning the next hour.
Use the final five
- Write down the three things waiting for you tomorrow.
- Send only the message that genuinely cannot wait.
- Close the laptop and silence nonessential notifications.
- Take six slow breaths before entering the house.
- Choose who or what deserves your attention first.
Make the handoff visible
Change your shirt, take a short walk or put your phone in one consistent place. A physical cue tells your brain that the context has changed. Keep it simple enough to repeat on the busiest day.
