The afternoon crash is often treated like a character flaw. More often, it is the predictable result of a rushed lunch, too little water, hours in a chair and a day with no pause built into it.
Run the four-part check
- Water: drink a glass before reaching for another caffeinated drink.
- Food: choose a snack with protein and fiber instead of a sugar-only hit.
- Movement: stand up or walk for five minutes.
- Work: identify the one task that actually deserves the next hour.
Notice the pattern
Track what happened before the crash for a few days: sleep, lunch, caffeine timing and long meetings. The goal is not perfect nutrition. It is finding the repeatable cause you can influence.
Persistent or severe fatigue can have many causes. Discuss ongoing concerns with a qualified healthcare professional rather than self-diagnosing them.
